A practical team process using Discover Insights to help people understand themselves and one another better, communicate more effectively and strengthen the way they work together.
People work alongside one another every day, but they will still experience communication, pressure, decisions and relationships differently.
Those differences are normal. Difficulties can arise when we assume other people see things in the same way we do, or when differences that are manageable in ordinary circumstances become more noticeable under pressure.
The aim is greater understanding, fewer unnecessary assumptions and practical changes that can make working together easier.

Each person begins by understanding more about their own personality, communication preferences, motivations and responses under pressure.

The team explores relevant differences and what those may mean for communication, expectations and working relationships.

We turn the insight into one or two practical working commitments that people can take back into everyday work.
It can be useful whether there is a particular team communication issue you want to address or the team is broadly working well and you want to build greater understanding before problems develop.

We begin with a conversation about the team, what is already working and anything you would particularly like the process to help with.
Each participant then completes the Discover Insights process and has their own individual guided conversation with me. This gives each person an opportunity to understand more about their own communication preferences, motivations, working patterns and what may change for them under pressure.
Before the team session, I review the team’s Discover Insights information to notice relevant differences and communication patterns. This helps me tailor the session around your particular team rather than delivering the same workshop to everybody.
We then come together for a facilitated team session where we explore some of those differences in practical terms: how people communicate, what they may need from one another, where assumptions or misunderstandings can arise and what can make working together easier.
The purpose is not to decide who has the “right” way of working. It is to help people become more curious about difference and consider what they can each adjust in their own approach.
We finish by agreeing one or two practical changes or working commitments that the team can take back into everyday working.
The individual guided conversations are confidential. Personal reflections from those conversations are not shared with the owner or wider team without the individual’s agreement.
The team will have a better understanding of themselves and one another, a shared language for talking about difference and some practical ways of adapting how they communicate and work together.
The aim is not to remove every disagreement or misunderstanding. Different people will still see and experience things differently. The value is having more awareness of those differences, fewer unnecessary assumptions and more understanding of the approaches people may want to try.
Understanding Each Other at Work is useful as a standalone team process.
If the issues are broader than communication and mutual understanding, longer-term team support is also available through SMART Support for Business.

From £3,295 + VAT for the business owner and up to five employees.
This includes the initial owner conversation, Discover Insights assessments and reports for each participant, individual guided interpretation sessions, preparation tailored to your team, the facilitated team session, agreed practical commitments and an owner follow-up.
The process also works with larger teams. If your team is larger than five employees, get in touch and we can talk through what would work best and I’ll confirm the cost before you decide.
If you’re wondering whether this could be useful for your team, we can have a conversation about what is happening now and whether this process would be a good fit.
